Best and Worst

Now that we've completed the curriculum, take some time to reflect on the best and worst Presidents of our country.

List the top and worst five with a short explanation of our choice.

3 comments:

  1. Best:

    1) George Washington (Bamf) - Set important and fundamental precedents for all other presidents, also, as the first President, he gained American trust and support in a rocky era after the departure from the tyrannical British monarchy.

    2) Franklin Roosevelt - Led us out of the Great Depression and established many economical and social safeguards that exist still today.

    3) Thomas Jefferson - Had a very productive presidency with the Louisiana Purchase and also helped establish a firmer foundation for the nation.

    4) Abraham Lincoln - Established unity in a troubled era and also fought for Civil Rights reform which is significant. Led Congress to bills/laws to make equality more prominent in America.

    5) Woodrow Wilson - Successfully deterred a possible nuclear war during the Cold War. Also had successful policies.

    (Badass Honorable Quote/Mention)
Andrew Johnson - "I have only two regrets: I didn't shoot Henry Clay and I didn't hang John C. Calhoun."

Ronald Reagan - "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" REAGAN SMASH.
    Worst:

    1) Nixon - Watergate, scandal, 'nuff said.
    2) James Buchanan - Didn't really do anything successful during presidency.
    3) Warren Harding - Basically useless president, indecisive.
    4) Franklin Pierce - Policies helped set the stage for the Civil War
    5) Ulysses Grant - Corrupt government but had decent intentions.

  2. I also agree with Billy on some presidents.
George Washington - set the basic terms for how to run our government and make it as fair as possible.
Franklin Roosevelt - got us out of the Great Depression with the New Deal
Lincoln - set all slaves free
Jefferson - expanded U.S.'s territory by double with the Louisiana Purchase
    Jackson - common man established

    As for the worst presidents:
Nixon - Watergate scandal, afraid of not being accepted
Grant - many corruptions in the gov't
Cleveland - raised tariff too high and didn't do much
    Taylor - passive
    Hoover - made depression worse
