What do you think are the top five presidents we have studied thus far? Who are the worst and why?

  1. Can this be for next quarter?
I think the top five presidents are Lincoln, Jefferson, Washington, Polk, and McKinley. The worst ones would have been Grant, Cleveland, Johnson, Q. Adams, and Davis. Grant didn't do anything and many scandal's have happened during his term involving the government. Cleveland only worried about tariffs, and Johnson was too much for the confederate side. Q. Adams was in a corrupt bargain to gain presidency and Davis just did a poor job.

  2. I think the top five presidents so far are Lincoln, Washington, Teddy Roosevelt, Jefferson, and FDR. So I agree with Catherine with a lot of her choices for the top 5. I think the five worst presidents are Jackson, Grant, Tyler, Hoover, and Buchanan. Jackson was an active, but negative president in general. Grant had a lot of controversy surrounding his presidency. Tyler seemed like he switched parties while he was serving. Hoover was not that effective because was not incredibly helpful with the Depression in it's early stages. Buchanan would not comment on slavery and really didn't do too much to help or discourage the issue.

  3. I agree with Nia that the top 5 presidents are Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, and FDR. The 5 worst presidents are Arthur, Grant, Hayes, Hoover, and Buchanan. Most of these presidents did not show any leadership skills and did their job poorly. Like catherine said, Grant had a lot of political scandals during his presidency. Hayes was a president during the Gilded Age and I think most of those presidents were too passive ineffective.
